Dr. Kuzma Talks About Dental Implants

Restore Function and Beauty to Your Smile

Teeth depend on each other to stay healthy. Every tooth that goes missing or needs to be removed because it’s too damaged or decayed to save puts extra strain on the rest of your teeth. Eating comfortably, speaking clearly, or smiling confidently can be challenging if you struggle with missing or failing teeth.

With affordable dental implants in Fairfield, CA, our expert team at Kuzma DDS Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry can replace lost teeth with solid and stable implants that look and feel like your own healthy teeth!

Three Parts for One
Amazing Result

Dental Implants recreate the natural beauty and lasting function of healthy teeth using three parts. First, an implant post replaces the tooth’s root, placed directly into the arch of bone that once supported your natural tooth. In many cases, we can even place the post at the same appointment when a tooth is extracted, minimizing how many visits you’ll need and making your recovery as easy as possible.

Second, a precision-crafted abutment is attached to the implant post to serve as a connecting piece for the third piece, the prosthesis. A prosthesis, such as a crown or bridge, replaces the visible top portion of your teeth with strong, durable materials that closely mimic the look of natural enamel. This could be a single crown to replace an individual tooth or an interconnected bridge for full mouth dental implants.

Versatile Options for Every
Tooth Replacement Need

1

Single Dental Implants

When an individual tooth goes missing, it can create a cascade of damage in the neighboring teeth, including changes to your bite and cracks and fractures in previously healthy teeth.

Replacing a single tooth or individual teeth in separate areas of the mouth with dental implants prevents these issues. Because single dental implants mimic natural teeth, you can brush and floss normally. We’ll create your implant crown to match your natural teeth so you can confidently show your entire smile!

2

Dental Bridges

When multiple teeth in one area go missing or become unsalvageable, you may worry about the cost of getting several implants to replace each tooth. We can replace many teeth with just 1-2 implant posts with an implant-supported bridge, making this an affordable alternative.

Dental bridges are typically anchored onto stable teeth on each side of a gap. An implant bridge prevents the need to place crowns on otherwise healthy teeth while giving you superior strength that lasts decades longer than a traditional bridge.

3

Implant-Supported Dentures

You shouldn’t have to struggle with a denture that slips, shifts, and leaves painful sores while limiting your food choices. If you’re looking for the stability and functionality of dental implants with the versatility of a removable denture, implant-supported dentures may be the perfect fit.

With just a few implant posts capped with specialized abutments, we can create a specialized denture that easily snaps into place. Your denture won’t become loose or need to be replaced in just a few years like a traditional denture, and you’ll be able to enjoy a complete variety of your favorite foods comfortably.

4

Full Mouth Dental Implants

This is as close as it gets to having a full set of your own healthy teeth again. Full mouth dental implants are the gold standard solution for total tooth loss.

With a custom-crafted arch dental bridge to match your facial aesthetics, we can permanently restore a full set of strong, stable teeth that will be permanently fixed in place. That means you’ll never need to leave your teeth in a glass on the nightstand while you enjoy 99% of normal biting and chewing function.

Your Path to a Rejuvenated Smile

1

Consultation & Planning

Your smile deserves personalized attention, so your dental implant treatment starts with a comprehensive consultation. We want to understand how your dental health problems affect your daily life and your goals for your renewed smile. We’ll talk about your dental and medical history and any questions you have about the process.

We’ll collect detailed digital diagnostics using our state-of-the-art CT and intraoral scanners to create an exact 3D computer model of your teeth, gums, and jawbone. Your customized treatment plan will be created for your specific needs and anatomy to ensure the most ideal, longest-lasting outcome.

2

Procedure

On surgery day, you’ll rest comfortably through every phase of your treatment with the safe and effective sedation option that’s right for you. We’re experienced and equipped to provide everything you’ll need for an ideal result, including additional procedures like tooth extractions or bone grafts.

Unless we place your posts at the same time as your tooth extractions, we’ll make a tiny incision through the gum tissue to access the underlying bone and place your implant posts. We’ll place your posts in carefully selected sites, at precise angles for the best possible strength and stability. We use single-stage dental implants to streamline your surgical process and eliminate the need for a separate procedure to uncover your posts later.

3

Healing and Final Restorations

We’ll fabricate a fully customized temporary prosthesis to wear while your posts heal so you can confidently go about your normal routine. Over the next 4-6 months, your implants will fuse with your jawbone through osseointegration to ensure optimal strength and function.

Most patients report mild discomfort only for the first few days after implant placement, and the rest of the healing process is typically comfortable. Once your posts are fully integrated and your mouth has healed, you’ll return to our office so we can place your final restoration, which we will design completely custom to suit your unique smile!

To protect your new smile, we’ll provide ongoing care, including follow-up x-rays, regular cleanings, and an examination after one year to ensure your new smile is as healthy as possible.
