IV Sedation
What is Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation dentistry refers to the use of medication to help patients relax and remain calm during dental procedures. It is commonly used for individuals who experience dental anxiety or phobia, have a low pain threshold, or require extensive or complex dental treatments.
We are one of the only dental offices in Solano County that offers IV Sedation!
Intravenous (IV) Sedation involves the administration of sedative medications directly into the bloodstream through a vein. This type of sedation allows for deeper relaxation and can be adjusted during the procedure to ensure the patient’s comfort.
Other types of sedation we offer
-
Nitrous Oxide: Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a mild sedative inhaled through a mask placed over the nose. It helps patients feel relaxed and reduces anxiety during the procedure. Nitrous oxide has a rapid onset and wears off quickly, allowing patients to resume their normal activities shortly after the appointment.
-
Oral Sedation: This involves taking a prescribed oral medication, usually a benzodiazepine, prior to the dental appointment. Oral sedation induces a higher level of relaxation and may cause drowsiness, but it allows patients to remain conscious and respond to verbal cues during the procedure.
